By typing this question into the search engine, expect lots of results to pop up. Some of them are forums where people directly interested in the topic talk about it. It’s the people who have cams and who think about getting them. Both share their opinions and information about these gadgets, but they all agree on one thing. You can only count on yourself.
Registration of the route and road activities is currently not only a fad, but a necessary activity. The number of dangerous traffic situations and unexplained events are conducive to buying a camera. Countless stories about unjust punishments, sentences and even movies with stupid pranks pulled on drivers on the road help here. Just because we trust each other doesn’t mean that we have to trust others.
I’m for it
What are the most popular arguments for adding a video recorder to a car?
Event recording – in the event of an accident or bump, a recording from a car camera can help solve the problem of the guilty party. Because the camera records the image in real time and sends data via the GSM / LTE network to the server, such a film will accurately record the situation, and the device owner will be able to view the event at any time. They can also make the recording available to the relevant services and, as a result, the actual perpetrator will be punished (instead of the accused person, which often happens).
Checking the car position. Some recorders come with a GPS / Glonass function which allows to accurately determine the car’s location. This is a great help in the event of theft or determination of the current position of a company car.
Driver control. One often hears about improper use of the company car. That often results in expensive repairs, and hence, faster and more frequent replacement of the fleet. Installing a camera will cause the driver to think several times before deciding to drive onto a high curb too high.
Cost reduction. Careless trips of employees using company vehicles are unfortunately not uncommon. How many times while on vacation in a seaside resort have you encountered someone getting out of a car marked with a company sticker in flip-flops and holding a screen? Maybe the person just took a short break from work, or maybe they traveled 500 km with their family on vacation? You don’t know it and you can’t know if you don’t record his trip.

And I’m against it
You can count people who are critical about cameras on one hand. There is nothing to score here. There are people who think that it limits their freedom. Both the drivers of a given car and drivers who don’t ave cams, i.e. those driving from the opposite direction, may not want to be filmed. Why is that, exactly? What freedom will you be taking from them? Freedom to spend your money without your knowledge or consent, or freedom to make stupid and dangerous pranks on the road? Either way, these arguments can be acknowledged, but there’s no need to be guided by them when making decisions. Remember that a video recorder also cares about the safety of others, so say openly that you have a camera mounted in the car. Perhaps the awareness of registering a ride will make someone drive wiser. Even one accident less is a reason to opt for monitoring.
